The Resource Pool is the commonly used name for the Resources List in EPM Live. Resources are added to the Resource Pool for the Site App. A resource can be either a named user or a generic resource. When named users are added to the Resource Pool, the resources' email address associates them to their EPM Live user account, or creates a new user account if they are a new user. The Resource Pool within EPM Live stores resource information such as resource name, user permissions (if applicable), and other attributes.
By leveraging an Enterprise Resource Pool, organizations have visibility to resource allocation across all projects and all types of work. When a resource is assigned to a task or other work item, EPM Live associates that the resource assigned to the work item is the same user who logs into EPM Live with the corresponding EPM Live user account.
For on-premise (client hosted) customers, named users are added to the top level Site App, and then granted permissions (level of access) to that site. Each named user is added to the Site App with an email address, which associates the EPM Live user to their SharePoint Account, often times using Active Directory.
