How do I manage the Timer Settings?

This lesson show how to configure the Timer Settings in your Site.  The Timer Settings are available to be configured only by the Site Collection Administrator.

Note: The Timer Settings time is disabled at the time of the initial Site App creation.  The time can be enabled via the Timer Settings Page.  

1. Navigate to Timer Settings

  1. Select the Settings Gear icon on the Icon Bar.
  2. Under the System Settings heading, select Timer Settings.

2. Total Rollup Lists – List Field Recalculation

Enter any lists that have fields which are the type "Total Rollup."  When items are updated in any child list that has a lookup to the lists shown on this page, the total rollup fields will be updated.  Note: The updates are made on the queue, meaning it's close to live-data, but it may take up to several minutes (for the queue job to finish) for the fields to update.

Note: The Total Rollup Lists section is in no way not related to the time selection section on this page.  

3. Resource Pool Rate Update Job

Select the time to run the Resource Pool Rate Update Job. This scheduled job will update the Resource Pool with the latest resource rates. The standard rate will update according to the Cost Category Roles rate and/or the Rates table. All rate updates are effective immediately within Resource Planner and Resource Analyzer, so this job is not necessary unless rates from the Resource Pool are being used in Timesheet or custom reports.

To follow best practices, select a time where the system will either be idle or close to idle.

You will see the Last Run time stamp, the Last Result (indicating either Errors or No Errors, and a link for View Log to view any applicable Resource Pool Rate Update Job messages. Note: Not all errors are fatal errors.

At any time, you may click Run Job Now to manually refresh the Resource Pool.  To run the job immediately, rather than waiting for the next scheduled time, click the Run Job Now button to manually initiate the Resource Pool Rate Update Job.  This is an optional and helpful troubleshooting tool.  

Note: If the Run Job Now button is grayed out, that means the job is currently queued or in progress.

3.1. View Log

Click View Log to see the log of the last time the job ran. The Log will be blank unless there are errors to show.


4. Save Settings

When finished, click the Save Settings button.
