How do I add a gauge?

This article explains how to add a panel of gauges to an EPM Live Analytics report.

1. Navigate to the EPM Live Analytics Reports Page

  1. On the navigation menu, select Reports to open the Business Intelligence Center.
  2. Click EPM Live Analytics.

2. Open Report Designer

  1. If you are on the Reports landing page, hover over a report to show the Print and Edit icon buttons.  Click the Edit icon.  -- Or --
  2. If you are already viewing a report, click the Open in Designer icon.

3. Navigate to Gauge Tab

Select the Gauge tab.

4. Configure Gauge Settings

  1. Title: Enter the title for the gauge section of the report.  Results: Select how many gauges should be displayed (one gauge per grouped result).
  2. Name: The name of the field to use as the Gauge's grouping field.
  3. Value: The name of the field to use as the Gauge's data points. This must be numeric.
  4. Sort: The name of the field to sort the data.  To sort alphabetically, use Maximum or Minimum.
  5. Minimum: Sets the lower bound for the gauge's display values.  Maximum: Sets the upper bound for the gauge's display values.
  6. Color: Set specific colors or color ranges for the gauge's value bar. Applies to the Radial, Radial2, and Linear gauges.
  7. Gauge Style: Select which type of gauge you want to display.  Refer to the steps below for examples and descriptions of the available gauge styles.
  8. KPI Low: Only available by selecting "Animated Half Circle". If set, this will set a lower bound for a "target zone" within the gauge.
  9. KPI High: Only available by selecting "Animated Half Circle". If set, this will set the value for the upper bound on the "target zone" within the gauage.
  10. Update: Allows you to set the update frequency for the gauges. This is good for tracking dynamic data that is updated frequently.
  11. Red Values: Specifies which side of the target zone should be denoted with red. Good for indicating whether small or large values cause concern. This has three values.  Available Red Values:
  • Hide:This is the default. Neither large nor small zones will be considered hazard zones.
  • Low: Low values (Anything to the left of your KPI Low target zone) will be considered hazard values and will get a red stripe.
  • High: High values (Anything to the right of your KPI High target zone) will be considered hazard values and will get a red stripe.

4.1. Target Report

Target Report: Allows you to specify a sub-report to be used with the drill down key of the Name field. The target report will appear upon hovering your mouse over the gauge.  Refer to the article on Drill Down Reports for more information.

5. Types of Gauges

5.1. Radial Gauge

This gauge displays a static needle that goes from 90° (straight up) to 0° (pointing right).

5.2. Radial 2 Gauge

This gauge is much like the radial gauge but has a different graphical appearance.

5.3. Animated Half Circle Gauge

This gauge starts from 180° (pointing left) and animates to 0° (pointing right).

5.4. Animated Half Circle with KPIs Gauge

This gauge can be used to display data that has a "target zone" and looks like the animated half circle gauge.  The Animated Half Circle opens up a few more options under the Gauge Style row. With these new options, you can select the KPI Low and High, and select whether the Red values will be hidden, on the low side, or on the high side.

5.5. Linear

This gauge is a simple bar that fills from left to right.
