Does your cost budget drive your resource plan? Is your resource plan populated based on the planned budget? Deciding which process works best for your organization (creating a Resource Plan or Cost Plan first) is a business process decision. This article describes the top down planning and the process of importing costs into the Resource Planner.
Top Down Planning & Importing a Cost Plan
Top down planning enables you to perform strategic planning and from the upfront planning you are able to import the costs entered into the Cost Planner into the Resource Planner. To begin, you create a project and then you create a cost plan. Next, in the Resource Planner, you can import the cost values from the Cost Planner into the Resource Planner. From this point, named or generic resources are added and then the Resource Plan is saved.
