How do I check out a document?

The Documents Page is one central location where team members can view, upload, check out, and edit documents. This lesson covers checking out a document and editing a document.

1. View the Project Documents

  • View the project documents in the document list.

2. Click the Ellipsis Menu (...)

  1. Check the ellipsis menu to the right of the document name.
  2. Click ellipsis menu to the right of Share.

3. Click View Properties

  • Click the View Properties option.

4. Click Check Out Document

  • Click Check Out on the ribbon.

5. Click on the Title of the Document

  1. Note the Document is now Checked out (icon now reflects option to Check In).
  2. Click directly on the title of the document to open it.

6. Click Sign In

  1. Enter your User name and Password.
  2. Click Sign In.

7. Edit the Document

  • Make additions or changes to the document.

8. Click Save

  • On the File tab click Save.

9. Click Close

  • On the File tab, click Close.

10. Click Yes to Check In the Document

  • Click the Yes option to check in the document.

11. Add Version Comments

  1. Select the Version Type.
  2. Add desired comments.
  3. Click OK.

12. Exit Microsoft Word

  • On the File tab, click the Exit option to close Microsoft Word.
